Orders & Customer Access

Review purchases and manage customer product entitlement while keeping orders and access records safely separated.

Orders record purchases. Customer Access records the customer's entitlement to the product. These are related, but they serve different purposes.

1. Orders

Go to Digital Products > Orders to review customer, product, gateway, payment and fulfilment information, totals, discounts and available PDF documents. In v2.3.0, orders can be sorted by newest or oldest, order number, total or customer.

4. Manual Access

Use manual access controls when you intentionally need to grant or refresh a customer's entitlement outside the normal purchase and fulfilment flow. This is useful for deliberate administrative access changes without fabricating a new purchase record.

5. Orphaned Access Records

DPM can identify customer-access records whose WordPress customer or DPM product no longer exists.

The protected orphan-cleanup action removes only those orphaned access records. It does not delete orders, Stripe payments, licences, activations or WordPress users.

6. Deleting Orders

Deleting an order does not automatically revoke the customer's product access. Likewise, changing customer entitlement does not rewrite the historical order.

Manage access separately when you intentionally need to change or remove an entitlement.

Keep Records and Access Separate

This separation protects historical commerce records while giving you deliberate control over each customer's current product entitlement. For bank transfer, remember that a pending order is only a record of the intended purchase; access begins after payment is confirmed and the order is fulfilled.
