Creating a Digital Product

Digital Product Manager Pro can sell anything from a simple downloadable file to licensed software with protected updates and renewals.

This guide explains the main product settings in v2.3.0, including pricing, Sale pricing, available quantity, protected files, licensing and renewals.

1. Add a New Product

In WordPress, go to Digital Products > Products > Add Digital Product.

Enter a clear product name and add the product description you want customers to see.

You can also add a featured image. This is used when DPM displays the product through its product layouts and Divi modules.

7. Updates and Download Entitlement

The Updates / Downloads setting determines how long the customer remains entitled to protected downloads and, for software products, updates.

For example, 12 months gives the customer access for one year from fulfilment.

This allows you to sell a permanent software licence while limiting the period during which new versions and protected downloads are available.

When appropriate, the customer can renew that access using the product's configured renewal price.

8. Activation Limit

Licensed software products can have an Activation Limit. This determines how many installations or sites may activate a licence at the same time.

For example, 1 activation is suitable for a single-site software licence.

9. Protected Product File

Choose the ZIP or other digital file that customers should receive.

DPM delivers protected products through its controlled download system rather than requiring you to expose a public file URL. Access can therefore be tied to the customer's purchase and entitlement.

10. Software Distribution Details

Licensed software can include the current software version, minimum WordPress and PHP versions, tested WordPress version, product URL, documentation URL, support URL, What's New information and changelog.

11. Publish and Test

Click Publish or Update, then perform a test purchase. If you use Sale pricing, verify the Sale price appears correctly on the front end and is the amount used at checkout. If quantity is limited, confirm a successful purchase reduces the remaining quantity and that 0 produces the Sold Out state.

For licensed software, also verify licence creation, activation and deactivation, protected package delivery and update information. If bank transfer is enabled for an unlimited product, verify that the order remains pending until payment is manually confirmed and fulfilled.
